2022 News @Stillwater Farms

I would like to thank the BAA board for the nomination. I live in Southern Indiana with my wife, Jenna, and two daughters, Elynn and Natalie, where we own and operate Stillwater Farms. We have a 240-acre farm that includes running about 90 head of registered stock and maintaining a decent sized poultry operation where we grow about 60,000 turkeys at a time year-round. I have always been a production minded cattleman. I started helping my grandfather with cattle when I was a child and have been managing my own herd since the 1990’s.
I bought my first Braunvieh bull back in 2014 and planned to use him on a commercial herd I had been building since I was a teenager. The hope was to increase wean weights, improve foot scores, and add bone structure. At the time I also invested in two purebred Braunvieh heifers. I was so impressed with those three animals the next spring I went back invested in another small group of purebred heifers. From there the seed was planted. Within the next year we transitioned most of our herd to registered purebred and braunvieh influenced cattle.
A few years ago, my daughters took interest in showing Braunvieh heifers. Which has in turn opened my eyes to the livestock show end of the cattle industry. Traveling to livestock shows has helped us to strive to improve our herd, help educate the cattle community on Braunvieh cattle, and invest in the youth of our breed.
Current roles in the Braunvieh Association include serving on the promotion and ethics committee. As well as a member of the committee that helped found The Braunvieh Youth Foundation. I serve as an active team member in the Adding Value Production Sale which also includes a bull evaluation for growth and performance in Cullman, AL.

American Royal was so so good to us.   We had a blast.  Got to see our Braunvieh family.  Words can not explain how much we enjoy these cows and the people that share our passion.  

Elynn brought home some ribbons with her Bred and Owned she has been working.  SW MIA Grand Champion Fullblood/Purebred JR Show and Reserve Grand in the Open.  

Natalie showed her Linda and was right behind Elynn and Mia in her division JR show.  Solid weekend for farm for sure. A special thank you to Brack and Chris Briscoe and his crew for his guidance and coaching, Morgan Conrad for clipping the girls up for us and Logan Stinnett and his crew for a great job fitting.
